ABOUT THE BAND

Midnight River is an upcoming band that brings a powerful rhythm section, soulful vocals, swagger, and class to the bluegrass community. Midnight River consists of (from left to right) Richard Propps, Ronnie Stewart, Michael Gregory, Tobe Woodrough, and Austin Maynard. Midnight River is based out of southwestern Ohio and central Indiana. The band is now taking bookings for 2020 and beyond.

RICHARD PROPPS

Guitar & Lead Vocals

Richard started his bluegrass career at an early age. In his home state of West Virginia, Richard traveled with his father's Good Neighbor gospel band. After ten years of touring with his dad, Richard joined a southern gospel band. Richard then moved from his home state of West Virginia, to Sidney, Ohio where he now lives. Richard was previously apart of Blue Storm and the recently retired Nightflyer. Richard's strong voice has won the hearts of many fans, and is one of the most recognizable in the business today.

RONNIE STEWART

Banjo & Lead Vocals

From Hamilton Ohio, Ronnie's interest in the banjo started early. At this young age Ronnie's father and Curt Hoskins were his greatest influences. Ronnie also released a solo CD in 2008 entitled, "Can I Sing This Song For You." Ronnie has been a member of several bands including: Nightflyer, Prime Time Bluegrass Band, Charlie and Wilma Hoskins, Blue and Lonesome, Miami Road, Wild Horses, and the Woolum Brothers.

MICHAEL GREGORY

Mando & Vocals

From Muncie Indiana, Michael began playing bluegrass in his early teens. Starting out on the mandolin Michael played with a group called The B.G. Express. In the next few years he grew as a multi-instrumentalist, picking up the guitar, banjo, and bass. Michael was an original member of the bluegrass group Blue Mafia. Michael also toured with Dan Tyminski for a series of shows in 2019. It is clear to see Michael’s reputation is packed with some of the top notch musicians in the bluegrass industry.

TOBE WOODROUGH

Fiddle & Vocals

Tobe began playing bluegrass music at the age of 2, sawing bluegrass on a half size fiddle his grandpa bought him with a group called The B.G. Express. He obtained his childhood music experience by traveling to jams and festivals with his parents and playing music with his father. In his childhood to teen years he picked up the mandolin, guitar, and bass. He's been a part of several bands in the past, anything country to bluegrass. Tobe currently resides in Fishers, IN. When bluegrass isn't being played you may find him at a gypsy jazz jam or playing a contra dance night.

AUSTIN MAYNARD

Bass & Vocals

From Lebanon Ohio, Austin started playing bass in the 6th grade when he was asked to join the school’s orchestra. Throughout his school education, he built a firm foundation on the upright bass and piano. Austin has played a variety of music including, classical, jazz, bluegrass, and country. Austin is currently studying biomedical engineering at Wright State University in Dayton OH. Austin is also a part of the Wright State Jazz Ensemble. Bluegrass music has been an important part of his family life and musical career.
